Welcome to Kitsap Aviation Squadron

Kitsap Aviation Squadron was formed by several local pilots around one airplane in 1956, making it one of the oldest, continuously operating flying clubs in the United States. Today, we enjoy two well-maintained 4 place Cessnas. The club was organized to provide safe and dependable aircraft, to allow sharing the high costs of aircraft ownership, and to promote camaraderie amongst people who have a common interest in recreational aviation. The Squadron continues to operate in the same manner today, as evidenced by a low initiation fee and monthly dues.

The Squadron is registered as a non-profit organization in the State of Washington and is operated in accordance with a well-established Constitution and By-laws, operating rules, and flying regulations, all approved by membership quorum. It is governed by an annually elected Board of Directors composed of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Senior Retiring Board member. Aircraft Engineering Officers are selected to insure superior aircraft maintenance in accordance with FAA regulations. Other club officials, such as the Training Officer and the Chief Pilot, are appointed by the BOD to further the purposes of the club. Since the club has no paid employees, members are expected to volunteer occasionally to perform such duties as may be required in support of special committees, or to contribute special talents and skills as may be necessary.
